"My Black People Will Suffer From Lack Of Knowledge!"

In all of the jobs that I've held in my life it seems as though they were all positions where I've had to deal intimately with the public. I was never the kind of person who enjoyed working the night shift in a hot sweaty warehouse interacting with the same scandalous people day after day, year in year out. The thought of living that ultra structured reality definitely does NOT get my juices flowing, a fresh turnover of unpredictable human interaction is what I have enjoyed in my various positions of employment!

Now it's from that vast buffet of experiences that I've enjoyed that has allowed me to have tasted a very broad cross section of people from all ages, backgrounds, races, countries, cultures and pedigree.

In that light I started out having a deep understanding about what diversity was all about at a young age, because with a father who owned his own business in my hometown of New York City, I had no choice but to venture into the vast array of culturally rich places that such a huge city had to offer.

This exposure so many different types of people has afforded me the luxury of knowing the many cultures on a more intimate level than most. And if I had to say just one thing about the human spirit overall from that cross section of people, is that the majority of human beings want better for themselves. The majority of human beings want better for their offspring than THEY had it coming up. The majority can understand that they will not live forever and want to leave this planet better off than when they came into it. The majority of humans are willing to EARN what they desire to possess because they are anxious to work HARD for it until their dreams manifest!

Now I believe you all know how proud I am to BE who I am in the PACKAGING that God created me in. This is how all Gods children should feel about themselves and it shouldn't ever be considered wrong to love yourself or your culture as long as you don't feel down about how you were fashioned. That being said, one shouldn't exalt themselves over the other members of the human family based on the color of their skin.

Now you understand what I mean when I, like many others reading this say, that I am proud to be Black and an important link in the total human experience. Now when you have a divine balance and pride in the manner in which God created you, you find yourself striving for the higher levels of consciousness and existence. Mind, body and spirit! You can't have one without the other. So this leads me to ask the question: "What happened to us as a people in comparison to the rest of human family?

Now I won't go on about the effects of 400 plus years of slavery or how being stripped of our name, language culture and God has us turned upside down and inside out into a morphed ignorant people, no, I won't say that this time in this blog. I won't say it because we know it all so well, most of us know it SO well that it becomes a convenient excuse when it comes time to play the blame game.

But what is our excuse for our condition now that we have access to ALL of the tools for self improvement? Can we now say that it will get us killed if we are caught reading a book? HELL! We reject the regular ingestion of useful information so much that we often refuse to read the instructions on a mere box of spaghetti!

Notice that I said USEFUL information, we have to understand that finding out that Shanaynay's Baby Daddy got caught by the Feds yesterday for running guns over the state line is NOT the type of information that will make you competitive in the world's job market today!

We now have the absolute greatest invention in history to self educate without as much as having to leave your home! What's that you say? A computer with an internet connection! Armed with this very affordable technology, one doesn't even have to physically go to the library anymore, you just do a search on any type of information that you crave and it appears right in front of your very eyes updated in LIVE time!

What I find to be very ironic and amusing is that the reason why most even GO to the library now is only for the use of the computers there, because of maybe not having one at home! What a strange twist of what is considered normal. You couldn't have EVER imagined this type of scenario 25 years ago.

But we as Black people, now with the technological advances of the world, have absolutely NO excuse to be educationally deficient! Especially when an individual can attain a college education and degree right in the comfort of their own home! You don't have to worry about driving to the school. You don't have to be concerned with the weather conditions for the day 'cause you AIN'T leavin' the house, and you can take many of the exams when YOU want to!

This tells me that we WANT to be stupid! Yes! STUPID! That word was created for a reason and we have stepped up to the plate to become the living manifestation of the word like it's our new religion! Whatever proper English is, we refuse to speak it! Our younger generation speaks as though they have cotton in there mouth as well as something else that I won't mention in order to maintain the family friendly flavor of this blog! Lol!

And for those of us who DO have the internet at home, can we be honest and admit that we are not using it to its full potential. Maybe you who are reading these words are using it properly, but can we vouch for most others in our communities where the illiteracy rates are skyrocketing even WITH such a wonderful tool called the internet at home?

At the rate that a young mind can absorb knowledge, we should be developing geniuses at alarming rates! Yet OUR children are at the bottom of the ratings time and time again. Where at one time in history we were the leaders in the WORLD in every form of mastery! The Builders. The Philosophers. The Sciences. The great mysteries were KNOWN by us but now it's a mystery that we don't even know ourselves anymore.

We, Black people in America, in general are THE most uninformed and unprepared people on the face of the planet! How foolish we look to the world grinding and humping as though this is the ONLY skill that we have to offer! Our young girls can be QUICK to tell our young men how they can "rock" their world but ain't doing a damn thing to CHANGE their world except to start crying when they find out that they are having another baby! Many of our men want to call themselves "hustlers" but don't even know their own social security number or even how to string together a legible sentence on paper without misspelling most of the words!

We are the first to get mad and say: "I didn't know that and nobody TOLD me!", but if you realized that it is NO ONE'S job to tell you about anything and if you would tear yourself away from Black Enslavement Television (BET) for just two hours a day to read a book, you MIGHT just learn something to navigate these hostile waters of the world when the going gets rough!

You turned your nose up to that minimum wage job that the Pakistani man with the funny last name of "Patel" took in a heartbeat when he first hit these shores twenty years ago as he went to school, now you are going to HIM when it's time to go to the hospital, HE is the doctor getting PAID! And here you are filling out a form to get free government services to pay HIM so he can go the affluent side of town when he goes home to talk about your stupid black behind!

You never took the time to inform yourself on what it would take to get a better life. You thought that the little block that you lived on would last forever! Your "boys" are now dead or in jail and the few that had any sense moved far away from that downtrodden existence and are doing well. You now find yourself thinking more and more about the good old days because you have nothing within to propel you to an even brighter future!

You wouldn't HAVE to go to the Payday Advance joint to get money if you were informed on the basics of budgeting! You wouldn't WASTE your money at the Fried Chicken spot, the Korea fish joint or the greasy ghetto Chinese food takeout joint everyday if you understood that you could realize massive savings and eat much more healthier if you were informed on the art of homemaking!

You wouldn't have to spend so much money on high blood pressure medicine if you only took out that gym membership a few years ago but told everyone that you didn't have the time to sit up in some damn hot a-s-s gym working out! But isn't it funny, now you fear for your life with dizziness and chest pains as you sit up in a hot a-s-s waiting room all night for ENDLESS HOURS when your pressure medicine doesn't work!

If you were informed on the benefits of proper eating, nutrition and exercise, the Chinese and Korean joint would be embalming you with grease and you would be looking good somewhere enjoying your life with even MORE energy and sportin' the SAME waistline that you had in high school! Remember how arrogant and condescending you use to talk to the Chinese man behind the counter while you receive your food order while feeling on top of the world strutting around 'cause you just got your piece of welfare check? "Hey China man! This thigh ain't fried enough, cook it some mo' and leave it in the oil longer!" Thoughts of your ghetto minded ignorant utterances HAVE to haunt you now while you gasp for air three in the morning..............

Dr. Patel is REALLY going to buy a nice new Benz with CASH now after you make him rich because of your self clogged arteries! Remember y'all used to laugh at him when he wore that funny high waters and skips on his way to that low paying night job that YOU didn't want to take? Bet you wish you hung with him now! Dr. Patel worked it while going to school to LEARN something better while you judged him on his outer appearance. He is a well paid doctor and Shanaynay's Baby Daddy (Your boy) is STILL doing time in the Federal Prison. Now THAT'S a O.G. Hustler move! LOL!

We are the best dressed, best hairstyle wearing, shiniest nail sportin', spinning rims having STUPIDEST FOOLS that ever walk the face of the planet! We are a tremendous resource for every other race to make big money off of us except our own d-a-m-n selves. Others can come into our neighborhoods and thrive greatly off of foolish sounding businesses that you will not find in any other community! And they all capitalized on our lack of being informed!

So the next time you think about spending that "gubment" check on a fresh outfit and gold anklet for the club that night, think about how being ill informed got half of the men in your community wearing a prison outfit and ankle chains for Club Lockdown spending lots of time in a party that they have no choice BUT to attend for the next few years! Barnes& Noble, Books-A-Million & Borders don't seem at all so bad now a place to go hang out when you really come to think of it!
